Cradle hold is an often-used breastfeeding position, especially for experienced moms or when breastfeeding on-the-go. In thiis position, the baby’s head rests on the crook of your arm on the same side you are breastfeeding from (left arm, left breast). While convenient, this position can often cause neck and back strain, as the mom is supporting the weight of the baby with one arm. Excellent position after birth, but very useful long term during nighttime feedings.

This is an ideal hold for newborns, twins who tandem feed, or for moms recovering from a c-section that cannot tolerate any weight on their stomach. Using the nursing pillow around your waist, you will position baby on the side of your body with their head facing front and their feet pointing behind you. Using your arm that's on the same side as where the baby is lying, wrap your hand gently behind baby’s neck to offer support when latching.
